Our Purpose

Keryx Prison Ministry serves the incarcerated at men’s and women’s prisons throughout Michigan through 3-day weekends, Ultreyas and groupings. Keryx focuses on the foundational truth of our need to know Jesus and His redeeming grace. Over the course of a Keryx Prison Ministry 3-day weekend, inmates are presented with talks, personal testimonies, opportunities for discussion, discovery, and times for music and singing that lead them to seek and desire a deeper relationship with Jesus. Keryx Prison ministry weekends build up the body of Christ in correctional institutions through the actions of small apostolic prayer support groups, trained and encouraged by Keryx volunteers, working within their environment. Through a structured and systematic program, participants are given the opportunity to experience a spiritual renewal and to accept God’s call to a life of Christian witness and service to one another.

Within the institutions where Keryx has been active long enough for its impact to be clearly observed and evaluated, Prison Administrators, Corrections Officers, and support staff have repeatedly said that…

‘Keryx is the most effective program at changing basic attitudes of the incarcerated currently offered in prisons.’

One inmate who completed their Keryx weekend and made a decision to accept God’s call described the impact Keryx had on them like this…

“I wound up at Newberry Correctional Facility…walked around like the hate-filled, tough guy I pretended to
be. I was laughing in my mind at the thought of another parole. This time, I was going on one last
run, the last ride until they killed me – that was my parole plan.
That is, until Keryx. Wow!“

And they are not alone. Thousands of inmates have been transformed on Keryx weekends through the power of the Holy Spirit since 1997 and the institutions that have hosted Keryx weekends have witnessed the difference.
